Glass-fiber reinforced polyphenylene sulfide (PPS)-often referred to simply as glass-fiber reinforced PPS-is a high-performance engineering plastic characterized by excellent high-temperature resistance, chemical corrosion resistance, and robust mechanical strength.

Based on glass fiber content, modification methods, and application requirements, glass-fiber reinforced PPS can be categorized into several main types: First, short-fiber reinforced PPS, produced by compounding chopped glass fibers with a PPS matrix, which offers good flowability and molding characteristics suitable for the injection molding of complex structural parts; second, long-fiber reinforced PPS, featuring longer fibers that provide superior tensile strength and impact resistance, making it ideal for structural components requiring high mechanical performance; and third, continuous-fiber reinforced PPS, which utilizes continuous glass fibers for reinforcement and is primarily used in high-performance composite applications, such as aerospace components.

Additionally, further classifications based on modification methods include mineral-filled, flame-retardant, and antistatic variants of glass-fiber reinforced PPS, designed to meet the specific material performance needs of various industries. Glass-fiber reinforced PPS is widely adopted in sectors such as electronics and electrical engineering, automotive manufacturing, and industrial equipment due to its outstanding overall performance.
